Other tasks include weighing donations, sorting and stocking inventory, general food pantry clean up, and organization. This position takes place during open business hours.

Restock Team

The restock team is responsible for organizing the pantry shelves, ensuring they are restocked and ready for the next open shift. This position has no contact with the clients and meets after the food pantry closes.

Greeting Team

The greeting team is responsible for greeting and assisting all guests who enter the pantry.  Greeters help all guests feel welcome and comfortable.

Youth Volunteers

Youth volunteers can help with inventory, recycling, taking groceries out to client vehicles, general clean up and shelf stocking. Responsible youth ages 14+ can serve on their own.

Waukee Students

Volunteering at WACS is a great opportunity for students to earn hours towards the Silver Cord program.

Volunteer 10 hours in any of the various opportunities, and you will receive this comfy “LOVE TO SERVE” t-shirt!

Community Garden Opportunities

Garden Team

The Fruitful Vine community garden team is most active during the growing season, typically March – November. Projects include soil preparation, planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting. This is a great opportunity for families, groups or organizations to serve together as a team. No experience necessary. All ages welcome.

Personal Gardens

If your garden is experiencing a bountiful harvest and is producing more food than you can use, please consider donating the extra food to WACS Food Pantry.

We accept fresh produce donations during food pantry hours.

Additional Opportunities

Prayer Team

This is a great volunteer opportunity for individuals, families or groups. The best thing about prayer warriors is that they are equally effective praying at Waukee Area Christian Services or in the convenience of their own home! Our onsite Prayer Warriors are available during both the Food Pantry and Free Clinic open hours.

We have seen many answered prayers take place in the lives of our clients that we can only attribute to faithful prayer. Many clients are in need of prayers for provision, well being and hope.
