New Volunteers: If you have not volunteered with us before, please complete our New Volunteer Registration Form found at the link below. Once we’ve received your completed form, we will contact you to schedule a tour and sign you up for your first volunteer shift.
Existing Volunteers: Click on the link below to sign up for a volunteer shift with us. You will receive an email confirming your date, time, and selected volunteer role. Two days prior to your volunteer shift, you will receive an email reminder.
Youth/Silver Cord Volunteers: The Grocery Transporter role in the Food Pantry and the Garden Helper role in the Garden are the current youth volunteer roles. Please complete the New Volunteer Registration Form if you have not volunteered with us before. Responsible youth ages 14+ can serve on their own.

Food Pantry Volunteer Opportunities
Food Pantry Shopper
The Food Pantry team has direct contact with clients. After client has been checked in by staff, volunteers assist with the selection of groceries, escorting client to the Clothing Closet and/or Anytime Food Room and helping to transport groceries to client’s vehicle when needed. Other tasks include weighing donations, sorting and stocking inventory, general food pantry clean up, and organization.
Anytime Food Room Shopper/Stocker
The Anytime Food Room is where our daily rescued food is made available to guests. Responsibilities include stocking shelves and refrigerator, checking guests in by zip code and guiding them through the process including setting limits, keeping the room and back storage area organized and clean. This position has direct contact with clients. This is a great family volunteer opportunity.
Greeter
The Greeter role is responsible for welcoming all guests who enter our doors. Greeters offer assistance, provide guests with Food Pantry or Anytime Room ticket and alert other team members that a guest has arrived. This is mainly a sitting position. Bring a book.
Grocery Transporter
The Grocery Transporter role involves taking a client’s groceries from downstairs out to the parking lot and into the client vehicle to complete a dignified shopping experience. This position will also help with inventory, recycling, general clean up and shelf stocking.
Clothing Closet Volunteer Opportunities
Clothing Closet Assistant
Onsite at Waukee Area Christian Services, the Clothing Closet Assistant guides monthly clients through the process, removing selected clothing from hangers, counting items and bagging. In between client visits, you’ll keep the Clothing Closet organized, clean and supplied with inventory.
Clothing Transporter
Transport clothing between WACS, the Waukee YMCA and the clothing donation processing center at Burn Boot Camp in Waukee. Must be able to lift totes and garbage bags filled with clothing.
Clothing Donation Sorter
Clothing Sorters work offsite at the donation center in the lower level of Burn Boot Camp to accept, sort, and organize donations of clothing received.

The Fruitful Vine Garden Volunteer Opportunities
Garden Team
The Fruitful Vine Garden team is most active during the growing season, typically May – October. Projects include soil preparation, planting, weeding, watering, and harvesting. This is a great opportunity for families, groups or organizations to serve together as a team. No experience necessary. All ages welcome.
Free Medical Clinic Volunteer Opportunities
Receptionist
Receptionists are responsible for gathering basic information from patients and preparing the patient files.
Nurses (LPN, RN)
Nurses gather patient intake information and assist in the provision of basic primary care services.
An active, unrestricted license in Iowa is required.
Physicians
Physicians are the heart of the Waukee Area Christian Services Free Medical Clinic and they are integral to its success. They provide basic primary care services to patients.
An active, unrestricted license in Iowa is required.
School Snack Pack Volunteer Opportunities
Packing Team
The Packing team meets weekly and assembles snack packs for students in preschool through high school throughout Dallas County. The program runs during the school year. All ages welcome!
