FOOD PANTRY DURING COVID 19

Current Food Pantry Services

Our food pantry continues to be open during regular hours with a drive-thru only service.  To address safety concerns and encourage social distancing, volunteers and staff wear gloves and masks.  We ask that you remain in your vehicle when you arrive. A volunteer will greet you curbside to gather information. Food is pre-packaged based on family size and will be delivered to your vehicle. Please have your door or trunk open for the volunteer to safely load your food.

Food pantry services are available to all Dallas County residents in need of assistance. First-time visitors will need to pre-register ahead of time. Information on the process can be found below.

Thank you for your patience during this time.

Questions and Answers

How often can I come to the food pantry? We have temporarily lifted the monthly restriction during this COVID-19, but keep in mind items are still based on availability.
What is the Drive-thru wait time? The average wait time has been about 5 minutes. Our first hour is typically the busiest with a wait time of up to 15 minutes.
What items are included in each food box? Each box provides a 5–7 day supply of food and includes a variety of shelf-stable pantry items for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The amount of food in each box is based on family size. Fresh produce, bread/bakery, dairy, and personal care items are based on availability.
What about young children/babies? Special “family packs” with kid-friendly items (diapers and baby food) are available and based on availability.
Is the Free Health Clinic open? The Health Clinic is temporarily closed temporarily. We encourage people to utilize The United Way of Central Iowa hotline: 211.
Is The Fruitful Vine Garden open? The garden is temporarily closed.  Volunteers continue to work so that fresh produce can be packaged and included in the drive-thru service, based on availability.
Can I have someone else pick up for me?  Yes.  Please call ahead to make these arrangements.
