Not Our Traditional Gala
Let’s face it – galas can be fun, but require a lot of work. When we started planning this year’s fundraiser, we thought long and hard about what makes sense for us, our volunteers and most importantly, the people we serve. January gave us a reality check – 3 times as many new food pantry clients and double the amount of rescued food room visitors as compared to last January.
So . .(deep breath). . we’re going to keep our all-hands-on-deck focus on serving and try a simple, no-frills approach to this year’s fundraiser. We’ve dubbed it the “Un-Gala.”
- For the month of April, you’ll hear more from us as we try to reach our $80,000 goal (gulp!)
- Instead of gala tickets, please purchase a $25 raffle ticket to win $2500 worth of groceries
- Instead of a big event, join us for a low-key social gathering at Kinship Brewing Company to connect with friends
- No silent auction, no live-streamed event, no presentations, no videos
Yes, we’re nervous, but we’re hoping you’ll understand, and maybe even appreciate, our new approach? Please, please donate. If you can do even more, keep scrolling for additional ways to help. We cannot offer the level of support we do without you. Thank you

Join an existing online team fundraiser or start your own. It’s easy.
Do you like a little friendly competition? We have several teams already setup and more teammates are needed. If you and your friends/colleagues want to set up your own Team Fundraiser and jump in on the action, that’s great too. You can even go it alone. Any online fundraiser helps us get the word out.
The two “Biggest Fundraisers” – one for the greatest amount of money donated and one for the highest number of donors – will get bragging rights for the year and be highlighted at our happy hour and in our communications.
Sell a pack of 5 raffle tickets
Many people don’t realize there’s a food pantry in Waukee covering all of Dallas County. And we’re the largest one! Selling a raffle ticket is an easy way to introduce us to someone in your circle. Your message could be as simple as:
“Will you purchase a $25 raffle ticket to feed a local family for a week and potentially win $2,500 worth of groceries for yourself?”
Winner will be drawn on Thursday, April 27th during our social gathering at Kinship Brewing Company. You do not need to be present to win. All ticket purchases are considered a donation to us. You can purchase a ticket online or stop by to pick up/purchase printed tickets.
Must be 18 years old to participate in the raffle.
Create a sculpture for our contest.
You “can” do it!

Join us in creating your own “can-tastic” sculpture at your organization or business. You’ll raise awareness of food insecurity in our community, while donating a generous supply of shelf-stable food for your neighbors.
The winning sculpture will be announced at our social gathering on Thursday, April 27th at Kinship Brewing Company. Click on the link below for all of the details.
